How Spawn joined the Tourney[]
Upon his death, US Marine Corps veteran Lieutenant Al Simmons made a pact with the devil in order to return to the world of the living.
His resurrection by the dark lord Malebolgia produced a result that was far different from anything Simmons had envisioned. His body, memories of the past, and even time were taken from him. His fate was to exist as a spawn of hell. He was then sent to the sixteenth century on a mission to retrieve the Soul Edge. Spawn had to obey his master, for it was his only chance of returning to his time period.
Special Attacks[]
Necro Blast (Neutral)[]
Spawn says "Getta load of THIS!" and fires a beam of Necroplasm energy.
Double Cartwheel (Side)[]
Spawn does two cartwheel kicks.
Levitation (Up)[]
Allows Spawn to fly for some time.
Triple Low Kick (Down)[]
Spawn does three low kicks.
Messiah (Hyper Smash)[]
Spawn stands up with his hands in the air, says "Wanna die?!", and then meteors fly down from the sky, hitting all his opponents.
Devil's Necro Cannon (Final Smash)[]
Spawn says "GET LOST!", then he fires a huge beam of Necroplasm energy while saying "Getta load of THIS!". After that, a gong can be heard as Spawn says "FOOL!".
Victory Animations[]
- Spawn pumps his axe up once, then raises it all the way up in victory, all while saying "I gotta go back.".
- Spawn pumps his axe up once, then raises it all the way up in victory, all while saying "Malebolgia, just you wait...". (Malebolgia victories only)
- Spawn swipes his axe once over his shoulder, than swipes it down and behind him while facing left, saying "Now, let's find out what you know!".
- Spawn slashes his hand axe one time and says "I'll say it time and again. Get outta my way.".
Trivia[]
- Spawn is the last Soul Calibur II guest character to be confirmed as a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Tourney.
- Out of all the Soul Calibur II guest characters, Spawn is the only one who keeps his English and Japanese voice actors from that game. Link and Heihachi Mishima are the others, but they keep their voice actors from Brawl and Tekken: Blood Vengeance, respectively.
- Spawn shares his English voice actor with Boss Nass and Groot. Kevin Michael Richardson once voiced Lucas Bishop in the American cartoon called Wolverine and the X-Men as well as Heihachi Mishima in Soul Calibur II.
- Spawn shares his Japanese voice actor with Tadakatsu, Two-Face, Seth, James T. Kirk, Snake, War Machine, and Private Trip.
- Spawn's rival in Super Smash Bros. Tourney is a kunoichi ninja, otherwise known as Ibuki. His second rival is the one and only Juzoh Kanzaki.
